"ITE" Incorporated was founded in 1928 by George J.
Baughman Sr. and Barry Aldinger, as a partnership under the name
A&B Garage. The two partners were engaged in the business of
repairing automobiles in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
One year after the partnership was formed, Mr. Baughman bought
out Mr. Aldinger's half of the business and continued in the
repairing of cars, and eventually, trucks.
In 1954, A&B Garage was offered a truck franchise from Mack
Trucks which was accepted, and a new corporation known at the
time were: George J. Baughman Sr., President; Norman Baughman,
Vice President; and George J. Baughman Jr.; Secretary -
Treasurer.
The company franchise covered two counties in Pennsylvania,
which dealt strictly with Mack Trucks. The automobile repairs
were discontinued.
In 1961, the company's franchise was expanded to include Western
Maryland, and part of Virginia. An additional facility was built
at 1500 Salem Avenue, Hagerstown, MD. 21470, to house operations
for the newly expanded area of coverage.
In 1975, Norman and George Jr. purchased all existing stock that
their father had invested in the corporation, and continued
operating the two locations as A & B Garage Inc.
In 1980, Norman and George decided that they would separate the
two businesses. The partnership was discontinued, with Norman
purchasing the Chambersburg, PA facility, and George Jr.,
purchasing the Hagerstown, MD facility.
Due to this change in ownership, Interstate Truck Equipment,
Inc. was founded as a family owned company with the officers
being, George J. Baughman Jr., President and Chairman of the
Board; Robin Baughman, Vice-President; Beverly Brookens,
Secretary-Treasurer and Susan Furry, Assistant
Secretary-Treasurer.
In 1992, George Baughman retired, retaining the title of
Chairman of the Board; Robin Baughman became President; Beverly
Brookens , Vice President; Susan Furry, Secretary-Treasurer and
Vicki Wagaman, Assistant Secretary-Treasurer.
Fall of 2004 brought more changes to the corporation. Robin
and Beverly decide they wanted to retire from the business, and
the search for a buyer began.
In the spring of 2005 Mr. Steve Parker of Baltimore Mack, Inc.
purchased the Mack Truck and Mitsubishi Fuso franchise. Beverly
and Robin retired.
Susan Furry decided to retain the fire apparatus sales and
service portion of the corporation, and Vicki Wagaman also
continued in the business.
A reorganization meeting was held on June 8th, 2005 renaming the
corporation as follows:
George (Jack) Baughman, CEO
Susan B. Furry, President
Vicki L. Wagaman, Vice President
Beverly R. Brookens, Secreatry-Treasurer
Interstate Truck Equipment, Inc. currently trades under the name
